Belly Dancer in Cairo
Luna is an American belly dancer living and working in Cairo. She is the latest addition to the Cairo dance scene, and performs daily on the Nile Memphis. Luna also makes regular appearances at weddings and corporate events.
In 2008, Luna left New York City on a Fulbright scholarship to write a book about dance in Egypt. While she was conducting research, she was presented with opportunities to dance at 5-star resorts across the country. She has since become one of the most sought-after dancers in Cairo. Due to her authentic Egyptian style, technical precision and stage presence, Luna was contracted at the Semiramis Hotel in 2010. She is currently contracted at the Nile Memphis. Luna also makes regular appearances at other 5-star venues, and has been featured on Egypt’s 24/7 belly dance TV channel “El-Tet.” Most recently, Luna has appeared in the music videos of some of Egypt’s most popular singers, including Higazi Mitqal, and is featured dancing in a new film called “Mamaleek.” Additionally, Luna is a teacher at Cairo’s newest dance festival Salamat Masr, which is organized by Hassan Ali every year .
In addition to her dancing, Luna holds a Masters degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University, where she studied radical Islamist movements in the Arab world. She is fluent in Egyptian Arabic, Spanish, and English, and holds a B.A. in journalism and political science.
